None-Refundable for Members and Guests

La Quinta-22Dear Members and Guests

As per January 1, 2015 there will be a US$ 20.00 charge per week added to your bill for Food and Beverage consumption.

This charge is NON-REFUNDABLE and can only be redeemed at the Pool Bar located on property.

If you consume US$ 20.00 or more in Food and Beverages, the deposit will be deducted from the total food and beverages charges when you check out. However, since this is a non-refundable deposit, should you choose not to use it during the course of the week, there will be no refund on departure.

THIS DEPOSIT APPLIES ONLY TO ITEMS CHARGED TO YOUR ROOM AND NOT TO ANY ITEMS PAID BY CASH AT THE POOLBAR.

Additionally, for proper accounting purposes, please note that it can only be used from SATURDAY to FRIDAY.

We thank you in advance for supporting our Food and Beverage facilities.

Yours sincerely,

The Management
La Quinta Beach Resort

My wife and I were there in November and the $20 fee was never mentioned at the owners meeting we attended. This should have been discussed with the members.
I would like to know if people that don’t use this where the fee goes.
Does it go to LaQuinta or to the owner of the Kini Kini Pool bar ?

Stop with the $20 comments……it is a drop in a bucket when you are on vacation. You spend at least $1000 or more on vacaton so what is the big deal of $20 which you can use for a nice lunch/drink at the resort that you are staying at on vacation..You should patronize the resort bar …why would you not?

I’ll be staying at this resort for the first time in October as I’m doing an exchange from another timeshare I own in the states. My first impression regarding this forced charge is that business must not be good. I hope to find the resort in good repair.
I’m an owner at LaCabana and typically when checking in guests are offered coupons and discounts. I understand security deposits and surcharges for power, but a mandatory pool bar deposit? That’s a red flag that something isn’t just right. And Ken is right, all your owners should have been advised.

      Laura,
It is definitely not a red flag. The resort always had this charge. They removed it for about a year or so now and are reinstating it. I think it is a great policy because it forces guest to patronize the pool bar when they normally may not even try it. It is very easy to use up the $20.00. All you do is get lunch and a drink and if you like it you will return. It helps promote the pool bar. Which is excellent. When we are at the resort we always hang out their and eat and drink. Its a lot of fun.

I am a new owner(5 years now). the first couple of years we had this mandatory fee and the last 2 we did not. We never really noticed or were bothered by it. Our resort is small and quaint and quiet. The bar owner has a very hard time staying in business if people don’t use it. We ate there multiple times last year and enjoyed happy hour several times. I am happy and pleased that we have a place to go and I understand that you can’t make a living off 20-50 units. I am glad you re instated the fee if it will help Mark stay in business.

We have been an owner for probably 12 years now. I fully support the charge. The resort is very small and sometimes the bar is not very busy. But don’t confuse not being busy with bad quality. These guys do a great job and if we want them to stay they need to be able to make money. We use our 20 dollars in the first day we are there.

To all Members and Guests: The $20. fee and credit for use at the Pool Bar is necessary because:
    A. It is a definite convenience to our members, guests, visitors and their family. In order for the operators to remain in business they must make a profit. The expenses to run this business 7 days a week are costly (Salary, taxes, utilities, food and equipment). They must remain open in High and Low Season and be prepared for customers even if there are none. The overwhelming majority of our members support our Pool Bar fee and it’s not that you are not getting food and beverages for the $20. you are and you support the resort.
    B. Interval International, of which La Quinta is a member, send us hundreds of exchange guests each year and our members utilize their services. We need them to rent our vacant units. They require we have a Pool Bar. Please patronize the Pool Bar because if they don’t make money they can’ stay in business.

Well said Stephen. People shouldn’t over think the $20.00 charge. Give the pool bar a try. It is well worth it. Just the fact that you make new friends is well worth the nominal fee.

I’m in favor of the charge. In fact if they brought back Urwin and The Shon Geko pool bar, I would vote to double it

The $20.00 fee never bothered us at all. We spend a whole lot more at the bar than that. The staff at the bar are top notch people/servers. I have a lot of fun with them when I am there. We mix it up with meals from there, cooking a few in-room, and dining out . I have stayed there a few times when my brother owned the TS I bought it. You can look all over the world and maybe find a comparable beach, but this one suits us just fine. We go in the off season pretty much (July) but that too does not even bother me. The stretch of beach reserved for LQB Resort guests is clean and quiet. There are no smells of fuel from the busy excursion traffic or having to swim inside ropes like the high rise area. I love it and cannot wait to return this July. I like this bar better than the last one. We found the guy to be rude to women for some reason, when I came up to address it he just denied it. I watched from a distance and saw it firsthand. I am a fan of the switch, maybe he was having a bad day that day. I give the benefit of the doubt as it is not easy serving folks and running a business at the same time. Knock a 20 off my tab at the end of the trip, good with me.
